Why We Collect It (Our Legal Basis)
Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful reason to process your personal information. The reasons we rely on are:
- To fulfil our contract with you: processing your order, taking payment, preparing your ink and shipping it to you. Without this information, we couldn’t complete your order.
- To meet our legal obligations: keeping financial records for tax purposes, for example.
- Our legitimate interests: improving our website and service based on how visitors use it, responding to enquiries, and protecting our business from fraud.
- Your consent: for non-essential cookies and any marketing communications you actively sign up to. You can withdraw consent at any time.
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information to:
- Process your order and take payment
- Prepare and ship your ink
- Communicate with you about your order
- Respond to any questions or enquiries you send us
- Improve our products, service and website
- Keep records as required by law
We do not, and will never, sell your personal information.
Who We Share It With
We only share your information with the trusted third parties we need to in order to run the business. These include:
- Payment processors (such as Stripe, PayPal or our card terminal provider) to handle your payment securely. We don’t store your full card details ourselves.
- Postal and courier services to deliver the kit to you and ship the finished ink back. They receive your name and delivery address only.
- Website hosting, email and analytics providers that store the technical infrastructure of the site.
- Accountants and HMRC where legally required.
- Law enforcement or regulators if we’re legally required to share information.
We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information with anyone for marketing purposes.
How Long We Keep It
We only keep your personal information for as long as we need it.
- Order and payment records: at least 6 years, as required by HMRC for UK tax purposes.
- General enquiries: typically up to 2 years, then deleted.
- Marketing contact details: until you unsubscribe.
- Website analytics: anonymised and retained per our analytics provider’s defaults.
For financial records we follow the HMRC standard.
How We Protect Your Information
We take the security of your personal information seriously. We use a combination of technical and organisational measures, including:
- An SSL-encrypted website (the padlock in your browser’s address bar)
- Secure, password-protected systems for managing orders
- Limited access to personal data, only to team members who need it
- Reputable payment processors who are PCI-compliant for handling card details
No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and disclosure.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies on this site for two main purposes:
- Essential cookies: to make the website work properly, including remembering your basket and keeping you logged in.
- Analytics cookies: to understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. These are set only with your consent.
You can accept, decline or change your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie banner on our site. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how the site works for you.
